Photo analysis

Camera angle: Slightly below Lighting: Natural, we can see some natural shadows
Proximity: Medium, head and torso are visible

Camera angle is where the camera is positioned, for example, at eye level, below subject, subject not squared. Proximity is how far away the camera is from the subject, and lighting is pretty self explanatory.

I think the photographer wants us to feel that this is a good, trustworthy man, someone we can rely on to keep our country safe, someone who would willingly risk his life to save a stranger. He is shown as someone you can look up to.

On this photo, background isn't really that important, since it's basically grey and black with no specific shapes or location, But to tell the truth, it does remind me of what I think the dust cloud from an explosion would look like. Wardrobe definitely does matter, since he's wearing an army uniform. His prop is VERY important, a grenade. It shows he's armed and ready for combat. He's not making eye contact, he's looking into the distance, the future and he's ready for whatever comes his way. He looks serious. As for posture, he's standing at attention (something I've got a lot of experience with). This photo is black and white. I think that this photo definitely does work to make me feel a certain way (like I can trust him)

Florence Nightingale

Florence Nightingale was brave enough to go against the tide, and become one of the first respected female nurses.

Who was Florence Nightingale,  and how has she helped people?

Florence nightingale was born in 1820, in florence, italy.  She is known for her contributions to sanitary conditions in military hospitals on the field, and for her work as a nurse in the Crimean war.  As an adult, she became interested in helping in hospitals, an idea which her parents strongly opposed.  at the time, nurses were little more than prostitutes. When she found out about the large war that was going on, she decided that they needed her help. She gathered 38 nurses to help her. When she arrived in crimea, she found it a huge, filthy place where infection was very common. To quote her on the state of the hospital,

"There were no vessels for water or utensils of any kind; no soap, towels, or clothes, no hospital clothes; the men lying in their uniforms, stiff with gore and covered with filth to a degree and of a kind no one could write about; their persons covered with vermin . . .

We have not seen a drop of milk, and the bread is extremely sour. The butter is most filthy; it is Irish butter in a state of decomposition; and the meat is more like moist leather than food. Potatoes we are waiting for, until they arrive from France . . ." - Florence Nightingale (www.victorianweb.org)

Upon her arrival, many of the doctors already working there didn't like her and her nurses, because they didn't like the idea of a female interfering with their work.  Despite all this,by the end of 1854 , Nightingale had the hospital in much better condition. Some of the soldiers started calling her "The lady of the lamp" because she was the only nurse allowed in the wards after 8 P.M

Florence Nightingale died at the age of 90, on august 13, 1910

Florence Nightingale has made the medical world a better , more sanitary place. She has many schools, foundations, and hospitals named in her honor.

Response to "wild animals don't want to be owned"

When I read the title of this post, I thought 'hmm, this looks interesting.' now after reading this, I feel sad and angry. It's just not right to keep wild anima as pets, "tame" or not. They're WILD! They may seem tame, but they're still wild. Nothing, no matter how nice they seem, can change that. Some idiot's idiotic choice to set his "pet" bengal tigers free in his town, has resulted in the death of these tigers. They had no idea what was going on. The question is, why did this man even have these tigers as pets? They should have stayed wild.

Purpose of a blog assignment

To entertain: Kimjongillookingatthings.tumble.com

I chose the blog Kimjongillookingatthings.tumble.com for entertainment
I chose this specific one because it is basically just pictures of a guy(who is obviously named Kim Jong il) looking at things, like rubber boots, apples , and cucumbers..... Obviously a lot of people follow this blog, since people are voting for the best picture. I'm quite confused as to what the purpose of these picture is, but I did get a good laugh out of some of them. My favorite was "Looking at a fish". This site is good for when you're down and want a laugh.

To entertain: 1000awesomethings.com

I chose 1000awesomethings.com for entertainment. I chose this blog because it is a bunch of random things that people think are awesome.......I see no point in it. For example, one "awesome thing" was when the little stringy things on a banana come of with the peel. Oookaayyy then. I liked "When you hear a smile over the phone". This site is good for when somebody is bored, because the random stuff is actually interesting.

To inform: www.bloglockers.com

I chose www.bloglockers.com for informative. I chose this blog, because it tells you all about The sports teams, for all the sports. I, for one, am not really that into sports, so this blog is not one that I would visit on a daily basis. For example, it has the final score/winner for a lot of professional league games. This is an excellent site for sport nuts, witch I am not.

To inform: engadget.com

I chose this blog for information. It gives a lot of information on brand new technology, and news on stuff like phone contracts. It also gives reviews on stuff like iPads and cellphones. I personally don't really enjoy stuff like that, but a technology freak might. I Like reading reviews on earbuds, as mine are nine dollar junk, and I'm planning on getting new ones. Check it out, you could like it.

to inform: lifehacker.com

i chose lifehacker.com for this category. i chose it because it pretty much helps you get things done. things as in almost everything. for example, there is "make a tablet-friendly paintbrush" it makes no sense to me why that is important, but i'm not the author, so it doesnt affect me. i dont like the layout, i find it confusing. if you're someone who needs help with anything and everything, check this out.

to persuade: weblog.greenpeace.org

i chose greenspace.org for persuasion-type blog. i chose it for this, because to overall mesage seems to be trying to get you to become more "green" and to speak out against environmental injustice. i dont mind doing those things, but it takes alot of people to change things. for example, there is something along the lines of "japan protests at re-opening of it's nuclear facilities. that is something to speak up against, for sure.

i couldnt find another one for pursuasion, sorry!
